Rivermend Appears to Acquire Malibu Beach Recovery Center

10/25/2014 -ATIN – A cutting-edge addiction treatment center is up and running on a 178 acre former plantation property after sailing through the planning commission stage in Augusta, GA despite opposition by neighbors because commissioners all agreed the property fit the use description in existing area zoning codes, according to published reports. Bluff Plantation is the name of the new facility, which the published report said has a close clinical relationship with the medical college at Georgia Regents University and is the latest offering from what appears to be a fast growing and acquisitive for-profit called Rivermend Health.

California Properties

On its website, Rivermend lists two California properties which Treatment Magazine has followed for a long time. Rivermend lists Malibu Beach Recovery Center and Brentwood House for Women which were both properties developed by Joan Borsten and her husband Oleg Vidov, famed in his homeland Russia as an actor in the romantic lead vein. It appears that Rivermend may have acquired both properties from Borsten and Vidov although neither Ms. Tina Black, which Rivermend’s website identifies as its VP operations nor Joan Borsten had the chance yet to return calls and emails made by Treatment Magazine. The Rivermend website lists Georgia Detox and Recovery Centers as a step down wellness effort. And the science-based approach discussed by Rivermend on its website fits well into the scientific discussion and application Malibu Beach Recovery Center wished to employ.

Youth Properties

The website also lists Wellspring Camps as having locations in the U.S. and the U.K. which are for adolescents and appears to be a high quality effort at the wellness model that is being brought online at many centers, including and especially with interventionists who have seen clients from the very beginning and know what they need. Breathe Life Healing Centers, which has a bi-coastal presence with centers in Manhattan and California, employs a wellness model and has had a great deal of success in terms opening the two centers and getting clients in the door. Brad Lamm, who is the CEO and founder of Breathe, has been a huge presence in the wellness movement, trying to work within the existing payment frameworks in California and New York.
