Today, John Kelly is a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the founder of the Recovery Research Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital—he’s at the top of his profession. But those laurels aren’t what define him. In an interview with Annie Peters, PhD, of the National Association of Treatment Providers (NAATP), Kelly says he entered the field of addiction treatment for one simple reason: to help people get well. Everything he’s done since then stems from that foundation, including his drive to find ways to measure recovery outcomes.

The interview with Kelly is part of the Recovery Reimagined series, a collaboration between the NAATP and TreatmentMagazine.com that explores and offers solutions to some of the most pressing issues facing the field of addiction treatment.
