Healing the mind is only part of the addiction recovery equation. Of equal importance is the physical aspect.

So says Ester Nicholson, a nationally noted addiction recovery coach, in this video. “When someone comes to me for recovery, I want to make sure [that] not only are they doing the spiritual and emotional piece, but they’re also doing the physical piece—they’re also doing the holistic piece,” she says.

Nicholson works for the SHE RECOVERS Foundation and also is founder and CEO of Soul Recovery. Additionally, she is a trauma healer an unconscious bias trainer and healer. The video is part of a Recovery Reimagined discussion with Nicholson and her fellow recovery coach Shari Hampton. You can read the complete interview here.

Recovery Reimagined is a collaboration of between TreatmentMagazine.com and the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP). The objective of the initiative is to further addiction and mental health treatment by probing the minds of some of the top experts in the field.

Prior to our interview with Nicholson and Hampton, we sat down with John Kelly and then Matt Vogl. Next up on the Recovery Reimagined slate are conversations with Christina Simos, executive director of Friendly House, and Jerry Schwab, president and CEO of High Watch Recovery Center. Look for those in the coming weeks.
