Texas’ Origins Recovery Names Top Caron Florida Exec as CEO

Addiction Treatment Industry Newswire
04/15/2014 -ATIN –
In one of the more important developments so far this year on the higher end, private side of the addiction treatment business, Origins Recovery Centers based out of the Padre Islands off the Texas Gulf Coast has named long-time Caron executive Drew Rothermel as the for-profit’s new chief executive officer. Founded about four years ago by Ben and Michael Levenson, Origins’ founders have spent their time developing a first class traditional 12-step approach to addictions care combined with a strong step-down continuum of care model consistent with the view that addiction is a chronic disease with clientele in need, basically, of a lifetime of care. By bringing Rothermel in, Origins has signaled its intent to take its model beyond the Padre Island founding site with Rothermel overseeing and implementing an aggressive expansion strategy while Ben Levenson transitions to board chair playing “a leading role as visionary for Origin’s growth and amplify his role as the organization’s national and global ambassador.”

Magnitude of Expansion

Most recently president of Caron’s extensive Florida operations, where he was in the middle of overseeing the turnaround of the recently acquired former Hanley Center collection of treatment assets in Palm Beach when the opportunity presented itself at Origins. Rothermel spent nearly a decade at Caron rising through the ranks at the world famous non-profit and is indeed among the most experienced addiction treatment executives in the nation. “The magnitude of the expansion plan is one of the most exciting opportunities in the industry today,” says Rothermel. “Origins presents with attributes that are unmatched in the

field, including an exceptional ability to measure outcomes and success… and ample resources to move swiftly with acquisitions.” Calling the new position at Origins “an opportunity of a lifetime for me,” Rothermel says he is confident that “what we do here will elevate the standard of addiction treatment around the nation.”

Thought Leader

For their part, the Levensons say they have spent the last 12 months examining and exploring growth opportunities with the intention of expanding Origins into new markets. Rothermel will continue to be based in South Florida, with the Levenson’s asserting he is one of the addiction treatment industry’s true “thought leaders” with the exact right mix of skill sets needed to “implement a successful, strategic expansion of such magnitude and scope.”
