-ATIN- – 06/05/08 – Affordable care icon The Right Step has just opened a new 24-bed high end venture in the Texas Hill Country, and the Houston-based for-profit’s new business development chief, Paul Auchterlonie, is ramping up marketing efforts to fill beds at the new luxury center, called Spirit Lodge.
Auchterlonie, a veteran of the therapeutic schools sector, where he consulted for Aspen Education and worked for pioneering Brown Schools, says that a small number of beds have been licensed at Spirit Lodge, located near Austin, TX, with approval for all 24 beds coming soon. George Joseph, The Right Step’s founder and CEO, has chosen a price point at the low-end of the high-end, $23,000 for 35 days care. The program at Spirit Lodge, where clients can stay as long as 90 days and must pay upfront and out-of-pocket, is 12-Step based, also coming with many of the usual spa-like amenities of the high-end addiction treatment space. “We are planning the Grand Opening event for October,” says Auchterlonie, who took up his business development duties in March.
Joseph, who is among the most widely liked and admired addiction treatment CEOs in the nation, has built The Right Step into was is probably the largest addiction treatment operation in the Southwest. His affordable care model, which is immensely respected by the commercial payors, has fueled explosive growth, with The Right Step last year treating 3,500 individuals in outpatient and residential settings at 23 locations in three states, Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana.
