Medications have become a critical component in treating addiction. It’s no surprise, then, that the third installment of the University of Michigan Addiction Center “Mind Matters” webinar series is focused on medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

Presented by George Cameron Jr., MD, clinical assistant professor and practicing physician with U-M Addiction Treatment Services and titled “Medications for Treating Addiction,” the webinar examines the various medications that are used to treat substance use disorders (SUDs). Cameron describes MAT as “the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a ‘whole patient’ approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.”

The fourth and final webinar in the “Mind Matters” series, “Family and Addiction: How Families and Friends Can Get Help and Support a Loved One With Addiction,” is scheduled for May 11. To register for the session, go here.
