AMA Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award for Penny S. Mills
The American Medical Association (AMA) bestowed its Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award on American Society of Addiction Medication’s (ASAM) former executive vice president and CEO Penny S. Mills. During her time with ASAM, Mills strengthened advocacy and coalition-building efforts for the field of addiction medicine on Capitol Hill and with state legislators, and worked to eliminate barriers to medication for treatment of opioid use disorders.

The Federal Judicial Center, the research and education branch for the U.S. federal court system, is offering a web series to equip federal judges and other system stakeholders with the information they need to counter the national opioid crisis. The series features experts and interviews that cover the many facets of opioid use disorder—including treatment for incarcerated individuals, the chemistry and biology of opioid use disorder and the road to recovery.
