Jerry Schwab, CEO of High Watch Recovery Center, believes providers should focus on treating the entire person rather than just the addiction itself. In his reimagining of the treatment field, there would be more emphasis on understanding the conditions underlying an addiction.
Schwab sums up his vision of holistic care in this Recovery Reimagined video: “I think we really need to do a better job of looking at a whole person. So, what is going on with the person that has created this situation that they need help? What’s the root cause of the addiction?” Go here to read the full interview, in which Schwab also touches on topics ranging from parity to the evolution of addiction treatment.
