SUD Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program

The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) recently announced that applications are open for its $28 million Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program (STAR LRP). The program will provide up to $250,000 in eligible education loan repayment funds for those working in the field of addiction treatment. The deadline to apply is 7:30 p.m. EST on July 22. The HRSA will host multiple STAR LRP Q&A sessions leading up to the deadline.

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation: Meth Treatment

On June 23 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. EST, the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation will host the webinar “Treating Meth Addiction: Pharmacological Options.” Prevention specialist Ian Groves will discuss “gateway drugs” and their potential for causing progressive drug use. Registration is open.

NAADAC: LGBTQ Care

On June 18 from 12 to 2 p.m. EST, NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, will stage the webinar “Advancing Awareness in LGBTQ Care, Part I: History of Specialized Treatment for LGBTQ+ Clients.” NAADAC members will earn 1.5 CEs for free, and non-members will earn 1.5 CEs for $20. Anyone can participate in the webinar for free, and registration is open.

Crouse Hospital New Treatment Center

Central New York’s Crouse Health, is set to open a new treatment center on June 19. Called Pomeroy Treatment Center, it will house outpatient treatment programs for those struggling with drug or alcohol addictions.

Kimberly Boynton, president and CEO of Crouse Health, says the opening signifies a renewed emphasis on addiction treatment. “The focus has been on the [COVID-19] pandemic and not the opioid epidemic, so we need to turn our focus back to that,” she says.
