Addiction Treatment Industry Newswire |
05/12/2012 – ATIN- In a major expansion, fast growing New Jersey outpatient psych and addiction treatment, drug rehab and alcohol rehab provider GenPsych is applying to open its first residential rehab in Lebanon Township, about 60 miles west of Newark in the northwestern part of the state. Founded about seven years ago by an entrepreneurial psychiatrist, the for-profit has until now concentrated on opening outpatient facilities throughout the northern part of New Jersey while gaining in-network UR credibility with over two dozen top insurance payors, paving the way for smooth inpatient approvals. But Dr. Henry Odunlami, GenPsych’s founder, has been given a lot of NIMBY grief by local residents who do not want GenPsych to take over a fifteen acre office site for conversion into the residential rehab. Instead they want him to lease space from the state at a nearby partly closed public psych hospital, which is already being partially leased by public funded non-profit Freedom House. The residents are giving their usual absurd objections – traffic because of AA meetings, where would clients go who sign out early (as if well insured addicts were homeless?!!) etc… Nevertheless, GenPsych may have trouble getting this one approved. So many residents showed up for a hearing the other day that the meeting had to be rescheduled at another, larger location because the crowd exceeded legal building capacity.
