Cartwright’s Forterus Merges With Treatment Solutions, Forms American Addiction Centers

Addiction Treatment Industry Newswire
08/12/2012 – ATIN – Treatment Solutions, a client assessment and referral agent for addiction treatment, drug rehab and alcohol rehab centers that also operates its own treatment assets in New Jersey and Florida, announced it has merged with Forterus Health Care, which itself was involved last summer in a deal with Michael Cartwright that left the renowned treatment entrepreneur as board chairman at Forterus with “active involvement in day-to-day operations.” Treatment Solutions SVP Business Development Mike Blackburn, via a Linkedin distributed announcement obtained by Treatment Magazine, said Treatment Solutions and Forterus merged to form a new company called American Addiction Centers. Forterus’ main operating asset, when it merged with a Cartwright wellness company called Revolution, appeared to be A Better Tomorrow

Michael Cartwright is emerging as among the most prolific addictions entrepreneurs in historyTreatment Center, a Southern California Florida Model provider whose CEO Jerrod Menz is among the nation’s leaders in delivering affordable care, along with innovations like in-house patient financing. And Cartwright may have merged, or be preparing to merge, his own treatment operations, as well as his well known conference company, into American Addiction Centers. With his conversion this year of the old Nieman spa in Texas into a major high end addiction and wellness center, along with his founding of Foundations in Tennessee and his role as a pioneer for dual diagnosis care, and now the formation of American Addiction Centers, it appears that Cartwright may be emerging as among the most prolific entrepreneurs in U.S. addictions history. And with the recent publication of a new book on addiction and wellness, perhaps a bit of a Renaissance Man of the field as well. Cartwright told Treatment Magazine that with American Centers he is attempting to form a treatment enterprise with an afordable model that has a national footprint, doing its part to close the “treatment gap.” “We already have operations in six states,” he said. Along with affordability, American Centers may also have some high end private pay centers combined with its own patient acquisition and assessment platform through the Treatment Solutions asset, which itself could emerge as a major marketing juggernaut in the industry.
