-ATIN- – 06/11/08 – Struggling Hanley Center has named its medical director Barbara Krantz as CEO. The action follows the Palm Beach-based non-profit’s alleged refusal to renew the employment contract of former CEO Terry Allen, who presided over the center’s rancorous divorce from Hazelden four years ago.
Over the past year or so, Hanley’s census has declined substantially, to the point that at the end of last year the center was barely filling half its beds, according to an email Allen sent to Treatment Magazine. Hanley is apparently trying to distance itself from its reputation as highly 12-Step-based, which was acquired when Hazelden ran the center. In its press release announcing Krantz’ new job, Hanley said the appointment of its medical director to the CEO slot “underscores the importance of medically-based treatment.” Newswire Staff Addiction Drug Rehab Alcoholism |
