U.S. Investor Group Buys Big UK Treatment Provider
09/12/2018 -ATIN - ELI Global, a U.S. holding company with interests in a variety of industries, has purchased a leading private addiction treatment provider in the UK, UK Addiction Treatment, UKAT.
UKAT has seven addiction treatment centers in the British Isles and its founders, Etyan Alexander and Daniel Gerrard, will continue to lead the company and will remain significant shareholders in the business.
“This investment will allow us to expand exponentially throughout the UK and Europe,” the founders said. “ELI Global brings significant expertise in behavioral health and will provide invaluable guidance as UKAT grows.”
The move by ELI Global follows a move made several years ago by Nashville-based Acadia Healthcare, the world’s largest specialty addictions provider, to expand in the UK. In 2015, Acadia bought The Priory, a chain of high end UK addiction centers.
Brad Mullahy of ELI Global portfolio company Yaras, a US behavioral healthcare concern, says ELI is pleased to acquire UKAT. “They [UKAT] have operated over the past four years with a great deal of success.”
